Course Objectives

• evaluate theoretical frameworks for sensory processing and perception
• introduce a range of approaches to experimental design and analysis
• consider research methodology in social psychology, lifespan development and perception
• develop skills in writing formal journal-style laboratory reports
• introduce data analysis software, electronic mail and other computing facilities as tools for enhancing research productivity
• encourage consideration of wider issues in psychology by use of a laboratory diary and internet newsgroups for expression of ideas related to laboratory exercises
• explore the Internet as a resource for information-gathering and explore the use of electronic newsgroups as a forum for on-going discussion on themes related to psychology coursework
